“This is an oasis. If you want to stay in a very comfortable B and B in a small French Village with a superb host you should not miss this place. The countryside is beautiful, it is close to Mirepoix and an easy drives to the Grotte de Niaux. Sarah who runs the house is very knowledgeable and willing to help. She is also an amazing cook and we ate both evening meals with her. Set in a beautiful garden and has a great swimming pool.”

“An oasis in rural France” June 2014. We stayed here for 2 nights last week and only wished it was longer! From the moment we arrived Sarah (our hostess) was warm and very welcoming. We had 2 adjoining rooms with a large bathroom. We loved the pretty garden, used the fabulous pool and enjoyed the cosy living room (with a huge assortment of English books and toys). The breakfasts were sensational (fresh croissants, still warm hard boiled eggs, yoghurt and fresh berries and homemade jams from Sarah's garden). Luckily we made the decision to dine in both nights...Sarah made us two delicious meals with her home grown produce and other local goods. We visited a couple of local attractions (the Niaux caves and chateau Lastours) on her recommendation and were very impressed with both. We left feeling relaxed and spoiled....highly recommended.

“traversée des pyrénées” Nous nous sommes arrêtés à Engraviès dans notre traversée des Pyrénées. Nous vous recommandons cette halte pour son calme et l'accueil de la "patronne". Elle a su nous aider à organiser nos journées, visites et promenades. Discrétion, disponibilité, générosité, propreté sont quelques qualités que nous pouvons attribuer à cette maison. “What an excellent tranquil location!” Many people say that they would like to get away from it all. Well we were fortunate enough to find that very exceptional place. We had been enjoying some time in Spain at the beginning of this year and on our journey back to the UK we stopped off at Domaine Thomson which had been recommended to us by a friend. On arrival we were given an extremely warm welcome by the owner who immediately offered us a nice hot drink before showing us around her warm comfortable and well appointed home. Well decorated with some very nice antiques acquired at local 'brocantes' the attractive bedrooms had super en-suites concealed from the rooms behind what looked like large wardrobe doors, very clever. Although it was the end of January and beginning of February we thought the grounds with their own swimming pool must be a veritable sun-trap in the spring & summer in their beautiful setting at the foot of the Pyrenees. We have said we intend to return in high season and at the risk of disturbing the tranquilty we would have no hesitation in recommending Domaine Thomson to friends and family. Jan. 2014.

Super accueil. 2014.

“Perfect” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2013 Together with family we've rented this place for a week, too bad it was only one week... The house is located very quiet township. The house is maybe not state of the art, but it's very charming. In the kitchen everything you needed was there, clean bedrooms, all with a very nice view. With breakfast/lunch/dinner we always sat outside under the tree, really lovely. The swimming pool is very clean, right amount of chlorine, umbrella's and loungers. The location of the swimming pool is also very beautifull, flowers around, makes it even more relaxing. I would advice this place to all kind or groups, family, friends, young, old. If you want to enjoy the beautifull France, this is one of the places to go. Furthermore you'll get a warm welcome of the friendly host when you arrive and if you have questions during your stay, you can always call her, she'll be happy to help you. Stayed July 2013, travelled with family

"Wonderful place" We stayed 3 nights in late October. The place was easy to find from Toulouse (with good instructions and a map from Sarah) and what a gem it is. The house has lots of charm and character and is located in a small hamlet deep in rural Fance. The rooms were charming , the beds comfortable and showers great. Best of all was our host Sarah (a remarkable women) who was an exceptional host. Her cooking / food was excellent as was her charm and hospitality and also her local knowledge of places of interest to us.

"like falling into the rabbit hole in alice and wonderland" it was absolutly lovely, im used to city living so this was the perfect retreat for relaxation, lovely walks and the nearby town of Mirepoix was great with its medieval square. i spent quite a lot of time horse riding which was avilable a 3minute walk away. the house was traditional french which i loved and we had a banquet on a couple of nights which were just fantastic, far better than i had imagined and definately value for money! the rooms we were in were clean and on suite which was a bonus, outside there is a pool but because its not heated we found it a bit cold! but im sure it would be welcomed over the hotter summer months. it was mild whilst we were here but in the evenings it did cool down so the owner lit the enormous fire in the living area which again just added to the atmosphere! i would definately recommend staying here as i will be again, it is most definately a true find.

"Comfortable accomodation on a lovely property in a great location." Very nice area Secluded and private whilst open and expansive nice scenery, views, drives and sights Property was spacious and gave me a very comfortable stay A choice of beds in different rooms with different outlooks Superb W/C facilities Excellent exposure to French culture; local, historical and personal. Arriving at Domaine Thomson you realise how fantastically secluded it is, giving you the freedom to fully relax without concern of annoying others. The property has large grounds, perfect for relaxing and basking in the sun. A lovely swimming pool is a treat in the middle of the hot days, with pool side loungers for the complete experience. If you can prise yourself away from the lovely valley where Domaine Thomson is located a short drive will take you to the culture rich medieval market town of Mirepoix. A little further is the famous Carcassonne with the even more well known Carcassonne castle! With an owner knowledgeable on the local area of sights attractions and wonders you may struggle to be disappointed. An area of beauty and warmth shielded from the French tourist trail, a true hidden gem. A great place to base your self when visiting the Pyrenees.

"Delightful accommodation in the beautiful Ariege" It is a lovely comfortable house in a quiet village. Pleasant grounds with large swimming pool. Ideal for exploring the area by car, on foot through woods and hills or by bike on many quiet and picturesque roads. We stayed in February when the weather could still be warm. No swimming but still plenty to do. The old town of Mirepoix is a short drive from the house. It is not far to the Pyrenees and the small ski resort of Mont d'Olmes is less than an hour away for a day on the snow! Nothing is too much trouble for the owner Sarah who can provide local knowledge or delicious meals or just let you do your own thing.

An English oasis in the French countryside My family and I spent 3 days with Sarah at the beginning of our French holiday. The accomodation was clean and more than adequate and the breakfasts were great. Both father and son are cyclists and Sarah ensured they received a hearty breakfast which always included eggs. (Something we missed on the rest of our holiday) Every evening, we came back to a home cooked meal – Sarah introduced us to a number of new vegetables. The pool was a welcome respite and despite the inclement weather, we used it on a number of occasions. Sarah's genuine interest in her clients makes this establishment stand out from any of the others we visited during our stay in France. We will most definitely pencil this in for our next visit to France.

Great Base For Exploring the French Countryside We only stayed one night because we were on the move, but I wish we could have stayed a week. Sarah was a very pleasant hostess, and cooked a great dinner for us. She can also give you lots of information on the area. Beautiful and peaceful…
